Only 24 players showed up at the Casino Poland for Day 3 of the
EPT’s Warsaw stop, as only that many of them survived Day 2. It only took 15 eliminations till the final table was reached, and the action was somewhat relaxed considering that all participants were already in the money and that the final table was well in sight too. Day 2 survivors included Arnaud Mattern, Isabelle Mercier, Roland De Wolfe and of course Dario Minieri who would end up in possession of the highest stack of chips at the end of the day.
Ludovic Lacay, who eventually ended the day on a respectable stack, looked like he was going to be the first casualty of the day when he pushed all-in on his 8,2o only to be called by Manuel Pastor who had a couple of rockets in his pocket.
The flop fell 2,10,5 giving Lacay some hope, as the 2 on the turn gave him the lead for good. The 10 on the river only served to give Lacay a boat, and to double him up.
Josh Gould became the first victim of the final table, when he went all-in on a pair of 5s against Dario Minieri’s Q,K on a board of 7,3,2,K,J.
Isabelle Mercier found herself on the wrong end of Lady Luck’s wrath in two hands against Arnaud Mattern. First she got crippled going all-in preflop on a pair of 8s vs Mattern’s 9,5 as the latter hit trips on a board of A,Q,9,J,9, then she ran her K,Q into Mattern’s A,J, but got hit for top pair by the flop which fell K,5,2. Mattern needed runner-runner to make a straight, and that’s exactly what he got as a 10 came on the turn and a Q on the river. Mercier busted out a couple of hands later.
Another notable elimination was that of Roland De Wolfe in 13th, who busted out after having hovered around the top of the leader board for days.
The honor of being the last elimination of the day befell Uffe Holm, who thus set the final 9.
The final table participants are: Arnaud Mattern, Ludovic Lacay, Dario Minieri (the chip leader), Atanas Gueorguiev, Joao Barbosa, Michael Muheim, Andrea Benelli, Nico Behling and Sergey Shcherbatskiy.
