Day 25 of the 2014 WSOP Awards no Bracelets

The 25th day of the 2014 World Series of Poker was scheduled to award a single bracelet, but in the end, it failed to accomplish even this rather modest goal. The event which was expected to play down to its winner was event #39, the $3k NL Holdem one. Eventually though, three players were left standing at the end of the day. Another event which almost managed to play down to a winner was event #40, the $10k Heads-Up NL Holdem championship event, in which only Sam Stein and Davide Suriano survived. The two of them will return to decide the fate of the bracelet on Day 3 of the tournament.

Needless to say, given that it’s a championship event we’re talking about, the two survivors made their way to the top of the pops through a bunch of high-profile professionals. Suriano defeated Scott Seiver and Daniel Cates first. He then moved on to dispose of Serkan Kurnaz and Ankush Mandavia. Daniel Colman was the last to fall before the Italian.
Stein on the other hand defeated Bryn Kenney, Sam Trickett and Max Silver. Scott Baumstein and Scott Davis were the other two players who needed to go in order to usher Stein into the final.

In event #39, 26 players returned to the tables at the beginning of the day. Jake Schindler finished with the largest stack: he had 3.86 million chips bagged. On the final day of the tournament, he will be joined by Ryan Giaconetti, who finished with 3.4 million chips and Sean Dempsey, who is now the official short-stack, with 1.66 million chips.
