Doug Polk Bests Ben Sulsky in $100k Challenge

Doug Polk and Ben Sulsky have been involved in a $100k Challenge bout tailored after the infamous durrrr Challenge. The two players kicked off their heads-up competition not long ago, and as Polk jumped out to a massive lead, people began wondering whether the challenge would go the way of the durrrr Challenge and never play down to a winner.
Those worries were dispelled this week though, when the two showed up like men and played down to a winner. Polk was the one with a lead of about $600k going into the last 1.4k hands of the challenge and he drove his advantage home mercilessly on Wednesday. To those who know a thing or two about poker, it was obvious from the get-go that the question was not whether Polk would win, but how much he would walk away with in the end.

On Wednesday, the two players logged into their Full Tilt Poker accounts with the goal of getting the challenge out of the way. It took them about 3.5 hours, but they didn’t get up till the deed was done. Polk was once again the winner. This time around, he added $160k to his tally, which means that his total profits from the challenge shot past the $740k mark. Having won the Challenge, Polk secured the $100k side-prize as well, so all-in-all, he walked away with more than $840k of his opponent’s money.
Fittingly, the biggest pot of the last session, a $54.33k whooper, landed on Polk’s side of the virtual table. Polk was the one who grabbed the initiative preflop, and by the time the 7d,Qs,8h landed on the table, there were quite a few chips in the pot. Polk continued his aggression through the turn and the river, which fell 9d and 7s respectively. In the end, after all the chips went into the middle, he showed down pocket 7s for the quad.
