DSPT Mohegan Sun National Championship – Artyem Perlov Wins

The DeepStack Poker Tour’s Mohegan Sun National Championship event saw 251 players cough up the buy-in, all hoping for a chance to at least make it to the final table of the poker tournament. The initial starting field included “name” pros like Michael Mizrachi (who bought in several times), Vinny Pahuja, Vanessa Selbst, Tristan Wade and Mike Matusow. None of these heavy hitters managed to make it to the 6-handed final table though, all bowing out at one point or another. Instead of being pro-heavy, the final table offered 6 relatively unknown players the opportunity to make a name for themselves in poker.

David Stefanski started the final table with the largest stack. Andrew Sherman-Ash was the official short stack. Under pressure to get something going early, Sherman-Ash swung into action and he managed to double up against Stefanski.
On the next hand, he scored a double elimination, sending Nicholas Palma and Patrick Chan to the rail. The hand gave him firm control of the final table. The three players shoved all-in preflop. Palma had an A,5o, Sherman-Ash had an A,7o and Chan had a dominating As, Qs. The board gave Sherman-Ash a pair of 7s and that was enough for him to take down the pot.

The last 4 players struck a deal, which gave every one of them $70k, with Sherman-Ash’s exception, who picked up $100k. They duked it out for the rest of the money, and in the end it all came down to Perlov vs Sherman-Ash. David Stefanski fell in 4th place, followed by Adam Bitker in 3rd.
The last hand of the event saw Perlov’s Ad, 8h best his opponent’s Ah, 10s. Perlov thus became the only player to take down money after the deal. He finished with $108.8k.
