DSPT Mohegan Sun National Championship – Day 2 Report

On Sunday, the second day of the DSPT’s Mohegan Sun $2.5k Main Event kicked off, with 121 players returning to the tables, and with the Re-buy option also still open for those who wanted to give it yet another go.
A little over 6 levels of action went into the second day, at the end of which 36 players remained in contention. The end of the day chip lead went to Matt Kuba, who managed to build a stack of 777k chips. Nicholas Palma had a great day 2 too: he finished with 765k chips to his name, not far behind the leader.
Others who finished with large stacks were Charles Saleba and Carlo Sciannameo. Joe Matros finished the day in 9th position, in possession of a 378.5k stack.

David Stefanski was the start of the day chip leader, but for some reason, he decided not to put his large stack to use and remained quiet for much of the day. On the very first hand of the second day of the poker tournament, Luke Vrabel got his chips into the middle against Peter Gilmore. Jonathan Drane threw his stack into the middle too with pocket rockets, and he scored the double KO, sending both Vrabel and Gilmore to the rail. His stack got a massive boost but it was all for naught in the end, as he too fell by the side and failed to survive the day. Another notable player who bit the dust on Day 2 was Allen Kessler, who pushed his chips into the middle with pocket rockets, on a flop which had already given Peter Halperin a two pair.

Mike Matusow, Vanessa Selbst and Kurt Jewell started the day well, but they all ended up on the rail too.
