DSPT Mohegan Sun National Championship – Day 3 Report

The third day of the DSPT’s National Championship event, hosted by the Mohegan Sun, is in the books and its goal has been reached: the field has played down to the final table. The player who will start the last stretch of the event from pole position is one of the previous chip leaders: David Stefanski, who managed to build a stack of more than 3.7 million chips. Only 5 other players will join Stefanski at the final table, among them Artyem Perlov. The other 4 survivors are Adam Bitker, Patrick Chan, Andrew Sherman-Ash and Nicholas Palma.

The beginning of the 3rd day of the poker tournament saw 36 players belly up to the tables, so before the final table was reached, the money bubble had to be put behind as well. Chip Jett and Aaron Massey both fell on the way to the bubble. Jett got his last chips into the middle on an A,5o. He found a caller in Adam Bitker, whose A,Qo clearly dominated him. The board brought a bunch of rags and Jett’s tournament life was history. The one responsible for Massey’s demise was Peter Jankowski, whose Qc,9c hit a flush on the river to beat Massey’s A,Ko and to send him packing.

The official bubble-boy of the event was Ken Silberstein, who bit the dust at the hands of Nicholas Palma to land all the other survivors in the money.
The bubble was followed by an uptick in the pace of the action and the number of eliminations. By the time the 9-handed stage was reached though, the action had ground to a halt again. It took about 2 hours for the field to play down to 8. The final table bubble-boy was Peter Jankowski, who was busted by Stefanski.
