Durrrr Challenge – Dwan recovers $63k more

Tom Dwan and Daniel Cates continued their Durrrr challenge the other day, logging another short 1,214 hand session. Little by little, Dwan seems to be digging himself out of the hole into which he fell as the challenge series started. He finished this latest session with a $63,000 profit, to close the gap a little more in the wake of a couple of similarly short sessions during which he logged five figure profits as well.
Of the total 1,214 hands that the two players logged, 11 resulted in six-figure pots. Dwan won 6 of them, while five landed on Cates's side of the table. To offset his six-figure pot handicap, Cates won the biggest pot of the session. Following the usual pre-flop give and take, the 9s,6s,3d landed on the flop, prompting a check from Cates. Dwan took the initiative through a bet, which Cates called. The 5d on the turn brought another check from Cates in response to which Dwan shoved all in. Cates made the call and revealed 7h, 8h for the nut straight. Dwan had a two pair but he was way behind regardless. In true sportsmanlike fashion, the river card was run twice, both times resulting in Cates's victory, which meant that the $210,000 would disappear in Cates's pockets.
Dwan’s biggest pot failed to break the $200,000 mark. It weighed in at a little under $190,000, and it ended up in his possession courtesy of a set of 4s he hit on the flop. Cates never showed his hand.
That extra six-figure pot that he raked in was the sole reason why Durrrr managed to finish the session in the black.
14,190 hands of the planned 50,000 of the series are already in the books. Will this series go down the same road which led to the Dwan-Antonius matchup to a dead end?
