Durrrr challenge: Dwan works $36,000 off his Challenge deficit

Despite the fact the WSOP hostilities were in full swing, and hundreds of thousands of dollars were fought upon at several tournament tables, Patrik Antonius and Tom Dwan managed to squeeze in some online action in their $1 million challenge series. They logged 215 hands, quite an impressive performance given the circumstances. The latest challenge session lasted for about 39 minutes. Dwan managed to finish the session $36,000 in the black, thus reducing his deficit which is still a rather daunting $411,192 after 15,322 challenge hands completed.

This session turned out to be a special one in the sense that none of the pots played surpassed the $100,000 mark. The largest pot of the night was a $88,000 one, which – compared to other durrrr challenge hands – was a feeble one indeed. It ended up in Antonius’ possession, though it failed to boost the Finn into winning mode this time.
The hand began with Dwan’s $1,200 bet which Antonius quickly raised to $3,600. Dwan called it and the flop fell: 7d,5h,4s. Antonius made the first post-flop move firing out a $6,000 bet. Dwan was quick to make it $17,200. That was enough for Antonius to prompt him to go all-in. Dwan made the call and showed Kd,10s,7s,4d for two pair. Antonius had 8s,7c,6d,5s for the straight. The turn fell an 8c and the river was a 2d, preserving the Finn’s advantage and awarding him the biggest pot of the session.

Another large pot was a $50,400 one, which found its way into Antonius’ bankroll too. The hand began with Dwan’s usual $1,200 bet, which he made before the flop, holding 10h,9d,5d,5c in the pocket. Antonius once again three-bet to $3,600 and Dwan made the call. The flop fell: Js,9c,6c and nobody was eager to get more money into the pot. The turn fell 5h hitting Dwan for a set. Unfortunately for the New Jersey Wonder-kid though, that same card gave Antonius a 9-high straight.
Antonius led out on the turn with a $6,000 bet, which was flat-called by Dwan. The river card was a Qd and Antonius just checked because of the perilous nature of the board. Dwan fired a $15,600 bet into him and reluctant to let go of the pot, the Finn flat called it. He eventually tabled 8h,7s,7c,6h for the best hand and took down the second largest pot of the brief session.
