Durrrr challenge lead swings back to Antonius

The latest round of the durrrr challenge saw Tom Dwan take what appeared to be a rather decisive lead in his match-up against Patrik Antonius early on. He took down 4 significant pots one after another, and had built up a $250,000 lead at one point. The Finn bounced back however and by the end of the session he managed not only to erase his opponent’s lead, but he even built up a small edge of his own.
The two have reached the total of 7,093 hands during this session, at the end of which Dwan squandered the biggest margin any of the players have had so far over their opponents. Antonius is now in the lead with $23,467, a very narrow margin considering the stakes involved.

As play began, Dwan took down a huge pot almost instantly. A big pot developed on Table 2, where all the money went in on the turn of a board made up of: Ac, Kh, 6c, Jh. Antonius made a pair of Aces and had a royal flush draw against Dwan’s top two pair. The river came a 8s, giving the $82,398 pot to Dwan.
Two more similarly giant pots found their way to Dwan’s stack a mere 10 minutes later. The first one had Dwan’s nut straight make short work of Antonius’ lower straight for a $79,594 payday. The second one was an even bigger pot: a $97,591 one. Dwan flopped top set in this one, against Antonius’ middle pair and straight draw. The Turn and the river failed to bail the Finn out again.

Antonius eventually began to gain some traction, and the tide slowly turned around after he took down a $102,589 pot. The hand featured a flop of 9c, 7c, 3c and the money went all right in. Dwan had an apparently unbeatable A-high flush, while Antonius had a top set. Unfortunately for Dwan though, the turn brought a 3h effectively counterfeiting his flush. The 6s on the river changed nothing.
Dwan lost a couple more hands being forced to fold on the river and dropped another huge pot on a two pair vs set match-up.
He called it the day as he was beginning to tilt and the two agreed to meet at the challenge tables another day.
