Durrrr challenge logs longest session so far

Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius have apparently decided to take matters into hand in the $1 million challenge match they’re currently engaged in. On Wednesday, they logged in the longest challenge session so far, having played a massive 2,043 hands. The session lasted for 7 and a half hours and it was Antonius who walked away with the goods at the end of it all. The Finn finished $112,807 in the black, and thus wrested the lead back from Dwan, who is now faced with a $80707 deficit. The way things are going in the challenge match though, we can definitely not call this a significant lead, and we can still theoretically consider the match-up tied.
Apparently, with the WSOP breathing down their necks, the two players have managed to muster some sense of urgency, which would explain why they suddenly decided to take the bull by the horns. Word also has it that Antonius had complained in a Full Tilt poker interview about the snail-like pace of the undertaking.

This session’s largest pot was a $154,089 one which ended up in Antonius’ possession. The hand began with Antonius’ $1,200 preflop bet. Dwan raised that to $3,600 and Antonius made it $10,800 which Dwan called. The flop fell Js, 7c, 5d and Dwan checked it. Antonius kept up the pressure by making a $21,600 bet, which prompted Dwan to go all-in on him. Antonius made the call and showed Ks, Kc 10s, 10c against Dwan’s Ac,Jc 8s,7s for the two pair. The turn fell a 4d followed by a 4d on the river and Dwan got the worst of Lady Luck’s wrath.

Another monster pot, this time a $143,328 one, found its way back to Dwan’s side of the table a mere 15 minutes later, as a result of a nearly similar bad beat. The two players went all-in on the flop and Antonius’ K-high flush looked like it had Dwan’s pair of As on the ropes. Two 5s dropped on the turn and river though (and made a set with a 5 on the flop) to give Dwan a full house and the pot.

An $87,981 pot went Antonius’ way later on.
The session came to a halt when Dwan called it the day complaining of lack of sleep and congratulating his opponent on the day’s action.
