Durrrr challenge past the 10,000 hand mark

Antonius and Dwan really do look like they intend to take this challenge to an end before the WSOP begins. They got together for the second consecutive night, and put in a 890 hand effort this time, having played for about two and a half hours at the challenge tables.
Despite the struggle involved, in terms of actual results, this session did little more than to take the challenge closer to the 50,000 hand mark it is supposed to reach. At the end of it, Tom Dwan was a $1,243 winner, a sum which amounts to about three big blinds at the level they’re playing. Antonius had ended the previous session on a much more solid lead, but even that wasn’t significant enough to break the virtual tie this series has been locked in since its beginning.

Despite the lack of actual results, this session wasn’t an eventless one by a long-shot. As a matter of fact, two of the largest pots of the challenge series went down during this session.
Of the two players involved, Antonius was apparently the more eager one. He had been waiting for Dwan at the challenge tables for quite a while before the latter decided to show up.

The first monster pot only took about 20 minutes to come by. Dwan bet $1,200 preflop, and got re-raised by Antonius to $3,600. He made the call and they flop fell Jd,8d,2s. Antonius checked and Dwan bet $4,800 to keep up the pressure. Antonius promptly called. The turn came a Qc, and Antonius called another $12,200 raise. After the river fell a 10d, Dwan went all-in, and Antonius called him. The Finn’s K-high flush made short work of Dwan’s pair of 8s.

There were several big pots throughout this session and two of them surpassed the $200,000 mark. In the first one, Antonius hit a top set against Dwan’s two pair for the $228,932 pot. The second one was the biggest pot of the challenge series so far and it went Dwan’s way when he hit a nut flush against Antonius’ top set. The pot was a $291,951 one.
At the end of the latest challenge session, it wass Patrik Antonius who retained a $79,277 lead.
