Durrrr vs Patrik Antonius challenge continues

After a long pause caused by the abundance of online high stakes cash games and various other reasons, the challenge match between Patrik Antonius and durrrr got underway for its third leg. This time, the two played no fewer than 914 hands, with Antonius managing to reduce durrrr’s lead quite significantly, from over $140,000 to just over $50,000.
Antonius finished the session $87,611 up on durrrr.
A month after the official start of the challenge, Dwan and Antonius have only gone through about 10% of the total of 50,000 hands stipulated by the challenge rules, having logged exactly 5,086 hands.
Specialists have been speculating on the slow progress and several theories have surfaced regarding the issue: some said it was in fact the abundance of other high stakes cash games, in which both players found it much more lucrative to play. The fact that Antonius was away on holiday, and that there was a huge time-zone gap between the two of them was often quoted as a reason too. According to some die-hard railbirds however, there may be a much more reasonable explanation to the situation. The fact is that Dwan has dropped around $3.5 million online in 2009, and he’s had some quite disastrous sessions against Phil Ivey recently. It may well be that the recession is getting to durrrr, albeit in a manner different than to the rest of us.
This particular session against Antonius took a heavy toll on Dwan’s bankroll too. He wasn’t focusing on his challenge tables alone, he played 9 tables simultaneously. And at the end of it all, he found himself $400,000 down, for which Gus Hansen was at least partly to blame.
One of the session’s three largest pots, a $124,094 one, went Antonius’ way on a board of A,6,2,7,6 after he made a flush.
Another such giant pot, this time a $122,072 one went to durrrr, who had A,A,Q,2 against Antonius’ A,K,K,J on aboard full of bricks.
The biggest pot though, belonged to Antonius after he made a set of Js against durrrr’s two pair to win $138,796 on that hand alone.
At the end of the session, the two agreed to continue the challenge the following day, so far however they failed to show up at the challenge tables.
