Dwan and Antonius seem committed to push forth with their $1 million challenge logging regular sessions, each of about 800 hands lately. Their latest such session was an 803 hand one and it lasted for about two and a half hours. Dwan, who had a tough time recently at the challenge tables as well as at the regular high stakes tables he plays at, caught a much needed break: he finished this session $158,514 in the black, and thus managed to wrest the series lead back from Antonius. At the beginning of the session, he was around 80k down, at the end of it he had a $78k lead.
Six-figure pots didn’t wait long to develop in this session either. The first one came by only about 20 minutes into the game when both players limped to a flop of Ac,7c,2d. The post flop betting was opened by Antonius with a $800 bet, which got raised to $2,250 by Dwan. Not to be outdone, Antonius raised that to $8,450 and Dwan called. The turn fell a 5d on which all the money found its way into the middle eventually.
Antonius had a middle set against Dwan’s 5-high straight and flush re-draw. A 10h came on the turn and gave the $109,431 pot to Dwan.
Another monster pot, this time a $111,737 one got taken down by Dwan about 2 minutes later. The money went in on the flop this time, and Dwan showed a top set against Antonius’ nut straight. The turn paired up the board though and Dwan took down the pot.
There were two more 6-figure pots in this session and both of them went Dwan’s way.
First, he took down a $155k one, having pulled a formidable bad beat on the Finn. Dwan hit an 8s on the river to make a K-high flush beating Antonius’ set and straight draw.
The final 6-figure pot of the session saw Dwan’s set of Qs make short work of Antonius’ straight draw and low pair for a $154k pot.
The day was eventually called by Dwan.
