Epic Poker League Main Event– Day 2 Report

The second day of the EPL’s Main Event saw the field whittle down to the final 18. The players who made it past the day, all landed in the money. They have also all racked up precious points that will count towards the season ending freeroll in which no less than $1 million will be up for grabs.
Sam Trickett was the one who finished the day with the largest stack of chips. He had an excellent run so far this year and he seems to be in a great shape at the EPL too.

63 players returned to the tables at the beginning of the day, and everyone was ready to chip up or to go home. The eliminations were fast and started as soon as the action kicked off. Dwyte Pilgrim was among the first to bite the dust. He was followed to the rail by Daniel Alaei, Sorel Mizzi, Dan Shak, Vanessa Selbst and Phil Laak. The pace of the action was quite alert all through the day. The above said ‘name’ contestants were followed to the sidelines by John Racener, Shannon Shorr and Mike Sexton. Chino Rheem bit the dust too. He shoved all-in holding K,J on a board of K,10,9. He got called by Antonio Esfandiari, who had Q,J for the nut straight.

The procession of high profile professionals from the tables to the rail continued after the dinner break. Tom Marchese and Ben Lamb got pretty close to making the money, but eventually they went home without the cigar.
Matt Graham was the bubble boy: he got all his chips into the middle on a pair of Js against Rheem’s Kc,Jc. The board fell Ac,6h,4c,9c,4d giving Rheem a flush and the win.
Hasan Habib made the cut in second place. Erik Seidel will be back in 4th place and Adam Levy survived in 5th.
