It took the 24 survivors only eight hours to play down to the final table of
EPT Barcelona Main Event on day four. Giuseppe Pantaleo started the day with the largest stack and he navigated his way well amongst the obstacles, finishing the fourth day with the largest stack too, and thus putting himself into prime position for a title-run on the last day of the event.
The day kicked out an extremely slow note. The caution however soon disappeared as players tore into each other and began hitting the rail in ever larger numbers. Kristoffer Thorsson was the first one to be bounced, when he picked up an ace-queen and shoved all-in on it, only to be called by Luis Rufas who had picked up pocket kings.
As the pressure was mounting on the shorter stacks, mistakes began to compound. Dominic Nietzche was the next to bite the dust when his queen-nine proved to be no match to Konstantin Puchov’s pocket sevens. A whole bunch of other notorious names disappeared from the green felt before the two-table stage of the action was reached at around 3 PM.
Alessandro Longobardi was eliminated in 16th place, when he put his tournament life onto the line, holding an ace-king. Kent Lundmark and his pocket sevens were to be blamed for the Italian's demise.
Zachary Korik was one of the biggest stacks at the beginning of the day, but his status would soon turn sour: Georgios Skotadis doubled up at his expense, after which it was only a matter of a few hands before Korik reached the bottom of his stack. He picked up a Ks, Js, but his hand wouldn't hold against Jorge Lores’ Ad, 8d.
The final table bubble boy didn't really want to go. It took over an hour for the other players to eject him from the table. Candido Goncalves eventually ended up with the “honors”.
