EPT Barcelona €10k High Roller – Thomas Muhlocker Wins

The €10k High Roller of the EPT’s Season 10 Barcelona stop is finally in the books and its winner is Thomas Muhlocker. Muhlocker made his way to the top cutting through a “name” pro-laden final table and defeating none other than PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu heads-up for the title and the €390.7k top prize.
Negreanu finished with €263.8k.
The final say of the poker tournament saw nine players return to the tables. David Benefield, Ole Schemion, Jonathan Duhamel and Negreanu were among the starters, so it’s safe to say the unofficial final table was indeed a stacked one.

Negreanu had started the event on the wrong foot: on Day 1, he had a major disagreement with tournament officials, at the end of which he just pushed all-in, in the dark. He wasn’t bounced though, and after he managed to cool off, he returned to the action, to eventually make it all the way to second place.

As the action kicked off on the final day, it soon became obvious that the players weren’t going to tip-toe around. The first elimination was that of Raoul Refos, who was bounced by Negreanu.
David Benefield bit the dust next, picking up €47.8k for his 8th place. He was followed to the rail by Richard Yong, whose reward was €66k.
Ole Schemion was the next victim, followed to the rail in turn by Jonathan Duhamel. The two picked up €90.7 and €118k respectively.

Joni Jouhkimainen, the start of the day chip leader, was the next player to go. Sent to the rail by Jean-Norel Thorel, he picked up €148k for his 4th place. Thorel followed him to the rail shortly afterwards, picking up €181.5k and setting up the heads-up stage of the tournament.
Negreanu had a solid chip lead at the beginning of the heads-up action, but in the end Muhlocker prevailed after Negreanu made quite a few uninspired decisions.
