EPT Barcelona Super High Roller – Vitaly Lunkin Wins

On Sunday, the €50k Super High Roller of the EPT’s Barcelona stop wrapped up with Vitaly Lunkin’s victory. Lunkin picked up the Shamballa bracelet together with the €771.3k top prize. Only 8 players were in contention at the beginning of the final day, making up the official final table. One of these players would still go home empty-handed though. That player was Timothy Adams, who fell at Erik Seidel’s hands in 8th place, going home with nothing to show for his efforts.
Having played down to the final 7, they were all well in the money, but with every additional position gained, they all stood to win tens of thousands more, so the stakes remained high nonetheless. Fabian Quoss, one of the earlier chip leaders, was the first victim of the final table to finish in the money. He was eliminated in 7th place by Mike McDonald, picking up €128.5k.

The next victim was Ole Schemion, the start of the day chip leader. Schemion got the last of his chips into the middle with pocket 4s and Steve O’Dwyer made the call with pocket rockets. Schemion needed a whole lot of help from the board, but none came, so he had to settle for €159.2k.
David Benefield was the one who followed him to the rail in 5th. Benefield was rewarded with €208.1k.
Mike McDonald busted out in 4th place. His share of the prize-pool was €269.4k. Finishing 3rd and setting up the heads-up stage of the poker tournament, was Steve O’Dwyer, who picked up €355.1k. He was bounced by Erik Seidel.
Seidel was the one who started the home dash of the event with a slight lead. He lost the initiative though and fell behind, but battled back. Eventually, the final hand of the tournament saw Seidel’s K,Qo fall to Lunkin’s A,5o.
