EPT Berlin – Day 3 Report

The third day of the EPT’s Berlin stop saw the field play down to the final 24. Marc Wright was the one who finished the day with the provisional chip lead, having amassed a stack of 2.4 million chips. To say that Wright had an excellent would probably be an understatement. He crushed all opposition on his way to a monster stack, and even though he ended up dropping a large pot late in the day, he still managed to cling to his lead. The hand in question happened when he pushed all-in on the flop, having made a 4-card nut flush. His opponent had pocket 10s and there weren’t any other 10s on the board. The villain then proceeded to fade all of Wright’s outs on the turn as well as on the river, to carve a nice slice off the leader’s stack.

Thomas Cibak had a hell of a day as well. He was the one who eliminated Simon Persson in 25th place to end the day’s green felt hostilities. The hand in question saw Persson’s pair of 10s succumb to Cibak’s pocket Qs. Cibak ended up with 2.31 million chips, clinching second place.
Vanessa Selbst wasn’t as lucky. She locked horns with Andrew Chen and ended up losing out to a backdoor nut flush the latter hit on the river. Selbst may have had a flopped set, but she never showed her pocket cards. Bounced in 48th place, she picked up a handsome €13k for her efforts.

She wasn’t the only ‘name’ competitor to hit the rail on Day 3. She was joined on the sidelines by JP Kelly, William Thorson and Will Molson.
Kevin MacPhee started the day on a decent stack and he did indeed manage to put together a nice run. He finished day 3 with 430k chips, advancing handily.
Two of the previous days’ chip leaders advanced as well: Anton Wigg and Vladimir Geskenbein both finished with healthy stacks.
