It took the
EPT Berlin Main Event participants around 6 hours to burst the final table bubble but once they did it, they pretty much opened the floodgates. In stark contrast with the previous day’s constipation, the final day of the Main Event saw fast action and total domination on the part of Daniel Paidun, who ended up winning the
poker tournament and taking home the €880k top prize.
Paidun started off the final table on the right foot and he amassed a bunch of chips during the early going, which he later put to great use.
Roman Korenev was the first victim of the final table. His elimination was a classic 1-2 punch one, which saw him drop a massive pot to Pascal Vos first. That left him with the shortest stack at the table. A few hands later, Alexander Helbig swooped in for the kill, his pocket 4s making a lucky flush against his opponent’s pocket Js.
Roman Herold scored the next elimination - that of Julian Thomas - after his pocket Ks tripled him up in a hand against Thomas and Robert Haigh. Thomas picked up €110k for his efforts, becoming the first player to climb into 6-figure territory.
He was followed to the rail by Roman Herold and Alexander Helbig, two of the players involved in the first two eliminations of the final table.
Paidun was the one who sent Pascal Vos to the rail in 4th place. Vos’ share of the prize-pool was €255k. Paidun then sent Lasse Frost packing in third place as well, to set up the heads-up stage of the tournament.
Having started the heads-up bout with a massive chip lead, Paidun allowed his opponent a double-up before moving in for the kill. The last hand of the event saw his 9s, 8s best Haigh’s A,Ko.
