The 4th day of the
EPT’s Berlin Main Event kicked off on Monday with 55 players returning to the green felt. A total of 5 levels of action went into the day, at the end of which Roman Herold emerged with the chip lead. There were still plenty of notables in the Day 4 starting field and several of them inevitably bit the dust during the first level. Sandra Naujoks and Liv Boeree were both eliminated during the early going. Boeree’s elimination was triggered by a classic coin-flip of a hand: she got it all-in with A,K against Natalie Hoff and her pocket 8s. The already made hand held, and Boeree was left with about 3 BBs, biting the dust for good a few hands later. Kevin Stani was the one who swooped in to do the dirty work.
Dashyn Aliev was among the players who had excellent Day 4 runs. He finished the day second behind Herold, with a stack of 3.9 million chips. The majority of those landed in his possession after he took down a massive pot weighing in at about 1.6 million chips, which cost Daniel Reijmer his tournament life and which pushed Colin Moffatt to the edge of elimination.
Aku Joentausta started the day with the largest stack, but he failed to make it to the finish line. His last hand saw him push all-in with A,J (which made a pair of As) against Roman Herold’s two pair. His 31st place finish was worth €22k.
Bryn Kenney was sent to the rail too: his pocket J failed to win the classic coin-flip against Alexander Helbig and Olivier Busquet, who both had A,Ks.
Khiem Nguyen had an excellent day as well. He ended up in 3rd place, with 2.7 million chips to his name.
