EPT Copenhagen – Day 4 report

The 4th day of the EPT Copenhagen stop saw a Swedish-heavy field belly up to the 3 remaining tables. Per Linde, Joel Nordkvist and Michael Tureniec were joined by Florian Langmann at the top of the chip counts. The fact that the 5 players with the largest stacks were seated at the same table meant that a huge explosion which would result in the emergence of a monster-stack, would be inevitable. Per Linde turned out to be the player in whose stack all those of his opponents’ came together, creating a 4.9 million monster.
Juha Helppi, probably the most feared among the survivors, started the day with the shortest stack. Under pressure to double up, Helppi made his move early with Q,3, which proved to be game against Lars Krogh’s A,K. That lucky hand gave the Hellraiser enough momentum to continue adding to his stack throughout the day and to eventually make the final table on a stack of 1.47 million.

One of Helppi’s victims was Pernille Ravn, the last women in the tournament, whose A,Q proved to be no match for Helppi’s A,K. The floodgates opened after her elimination and soon Dmitry Vitkind, Surinder Sunar and Mikhail Lakhitov filed to the rail as well.
Florian Langmann may have been among the large-stacks at the beginning of the day, but he couldn’t really get anything going and soon found himself on a short stack. He made his final all-in move with A,Q and got called by Per Linde who had J,J. the board brought only bricks and Langmann was sent to the rail.
Players continued to be eliminated at a steady pace through the day, and the action only slowed down a little when the final table emerged on the horizon.
It took the final table bubble about an hour and a half to burst, and it did when Helppi eliminated Nordkvist in 9th place.
