EPT Copenhagen – Day 4 Report

The 4th day of the EPT’s Copenhagen Main Event saw 24 players return to the tables. The goal was to have the field play down to the 8-handed final table, and that goal was indeed handily achieved: the day 4 action lasted a little more than 7 hours, a short day by EPT standards.
Aage Ravn was the player sitting behind the largest stack of chips when the action was called. Ravn swung into action during the final stretch of the day. He took down several massive pots, beginning with the one that resulted in Gerasimos Deres’ elimination in 13th place. Ravn had pocket Js against Deres’ Ac, Jc. The board brought a bunch of blanks, sending Deres to the rail and setting Ravn on fire. Ravn proceeded to pick up two more significant pots, forcing Steve O’Dwyer to fold twice. He played an instrumental role in the busting of the final table bubble-boy too. He was the one who set Keld Volquardsen onto the slippery slope of elimination, picking up a 3-bet pot from him to push his stack over the 2 million mark, and his opponent’s back into the quagmire. Volquardsen then lost another pot to Jacob Rasmussen, suddenly finding himself short on chips. A few hands later, he was all-in against Mickey Petersen, whose A,Qo got the better of his A,8o, setting the official final table of the event.

Michael Tureniec also played on Day 4, having all eyes on him before he busted in 11th place. Had he remained in contention, Tureniec would’ve preserved his chance to become the EPT’s first double champion. His chances and thus the premises of a wonderful story evaporated when his A,Ko fell to Bjorke Hansen’s Ah, Jh, leaving him chip-less on the rail.
Steve O’Dwyer eventually made the final table, although his is almost the shortest stack going into the final day of action. Spencer Hudson is the official short-stack of the final table with 447k chips.
