EPT Copenhagen – Mickey Petersen Wins

It took 6 days for the 299 players to play down to a winner in the Main Event of the EPT’s Copenhagen stop. Eventually, it was Mickey Petersen who picked up the laurels, together with the €338.k1 top prize.
Aage Ravn was the one who had the lead when the final table kicked off. Railbirds didn’t have to wait long for the first elimination to occur: Spencer Hudson, the start of the day short stack, picked up pocket Js and without a second thought, he shoved all-in on them. Aage Ravn made the call with an A,10o and proceeded to catch another A on the turn to seal the fate of his opponent.

Steve O’Dwyer was the one who bit the dust in 7th place. He put his chips into the middle on an Ad,3d and got called by Ravn, who had a dominating A,Jo this time.
Niels van Alphen played well through the day. He picked up several premium starting hands and managed to make the most of them each time. At one point, he picked up an Ah,Qh and he got a caller in Pierre Neuville, who had A,Ko. The Dutchman never managed to catch up and he was bounced in 6th.
Jacob Rasmussen got hit badly by Bjarke Hansen, dropping the majority of his chips in the confrontation. Just as he was beginning to build his stack back up, Petersen – who took the chip lead in the meantime – called his pocket 5s with a Kh, Qh and hit a flush to send him packing.
As soon as Petersen took control of the hostilities, Ravn began to slip and he never managed to recover. He was eventually eliminated by Neuville on a bad beat setting up 3-handed play.
Bjarke Hansen was the one whose elimination set up the heads-up stage. The heads-up stage was a slugfest marathon, lasting over 6 hours. The final hand of the event saw Petersen’s A,5o best Neuville’s A,4o.
