EPT Deauville – Day 4 Report

54 players returned to the tables of the EPT’s Deauville Main Event on Day 4 of the poker tournament. Team PokerStars pro Luca Pagano stole all the limelight for the day: he started off in an unimpressive 36th place, but he managed to accumulate a monster stack of 3,561,000 chips to finish in the top spot. He only had a little over 300k chips when the action commenced, but that didn’t stop him from going on a winning spree that eventually made him the top dog of the event. His first victim was Balazs Botond, whose A,Jo fell to Pagano’s pocket Qs.

It only took about a level of action for Pagano to lock horns with the start of the day chip leader, Samphane Phomveha. Phomveha was the one who 3-bet before a flop of A,7,6 rainbow fell. Pagano fired out a bet and Phomveha called to see another A fall on the turn. Pagano kept up the pressure and Phomveha called yet again before the 10s fell on the river. The Italian PokerStars pro made another bet in the last betting round which Phomveha called yet again tabling an A,Jo, which fell to Pagano’s pocket 6s.
From there on out, it was all downhill for the start of the day leader: he eventually bit the dust shortly after his Pagano-fiasco. He wasn’t the only notable player heading to the rail though: he was joined by Mohsin Charania as well as Day 2 chip leader Martins Adeniya.

Unlike the above listed players, Olivier Rogez had an excellent day 4: he finished second in chips, having amassed a stack of 2.6 million+. Vadim Kursevich was right up there at the top of the chip counts too: he finished with 1.8 million chips. Paul Guichard rounded out the top 4. 24 players survived the day. They will return on day 5 with the goal of playing down to the final table.
