EPT Deauville – Day 4 Report

41 players returned to the tables on the 4th day of the EPT’s Season 10 Deauville Main Event. According to the schedule of the
poker tournament, the goal for day 4 was for the field to play down to the final 16, and that goal was indeed handily achieved, within just four and a half levels of action.
The start of the day chip leader was Ekrem Saniouglu, one of the local players, who had some 1.3 million chips at his disposal. He had played Day three aggressively and he didn’t change his tune for Day four either. This time around though, not only did the rewards fail to come, he began bleeding chips, and before he knew it, he was all-in for his tournament life.
Early in the day, he tried to pull off a major bluff against JP Kelly. The pro kept him honest though, calling him with nothing but an A-high, winning the pot.
Eventually, Sanioglu faded away in 28th place, picking up €15.9k for his efforts.
Sotirios Koutoupas was the one who ended up with the largest stack at the end of the day. He made several great moves on Day 4, one of which was the busting of Michel Pomaret.
Bruno Sammartino was among those who bit the dust on Day 4 too. He was sent packing by Tatu Maenpaa, who had made a straight on a board which also gave Sammartino a set of Ks.
Maenpaa then went on to clinch the chip lead after a very lucky break which saw him bounce large-stack Robert Szecsi. Katchalov was involved in the pot too, but he got out of the way before things blew up. To make a long story short: Maenpaa’s Kh, Qh got the better of Szecsi’s pocket rockets.
Maenpaa later gave up the lead to Koutoupas, who had 2.69 million chips bagged.
