EPT Deauville Main Event – Day 4 Report

Out of the 51 players who returned to the tables of the Casino Barriere for the 4th day of the EPT’s Deauville Main Event, only 23 were left standing at the final whistle. The player who clinched the chip lead at the end of the day was local player Cyril Andre, who managed to amass a stack of 2.1 million chips. Interestingly enough, all five players from the top 5 were French, which means the odds of the title staying at home are pretty decent this time around indeed.

With the money bubble a distant memory and the final table bubble too far away to instill any sort of extra urgency, the pace of eliminations on Day 4 was a more than decent one. Shahaf Hadaya started the day with the largest stack, and with hopes of making it past the day. Unfortunately for him though, Lady Luck had other plans for him: following a spectacular streak of bad luck (he lost several hands with pocket Ks), he busted out in 32nd place, picking up €19k for his efforts – a good chunk of change, but not particularly impressive in light of what he may have taken home instead.
Andre started the day in possession of an above-average stack, and he began adding to it almost straight away. At one point, he locked horns with Lucien Cohen, eliminating the latter in 28th place and picking up a massive pot as a result. Salvatore Bonavena was eliminated on Day 4 as well: he picked up €13.5k for his 48th place.
Other notables who bit the dust were Jason Koon (who made it all the way to 39th place before bowing out), Sam Grafton and Alexander Dovzhenko. The player responsible for Grafton’s elimination was Massimo Di Cicco.
