EPT Deauville Main Event - Ognyan Dimov Wins

The Main Event of the Season 11 Deauville stop of the
European Poker Tour went into the books on Saturday, as a winner was finally crowned after several days of red-hot poker action. In the end, the one who ended up with the trophy, the first-place prize and the bragging rights, was Bulgaria's Ognyan Dimov, who bested Dany Parlafes from Romania heads-up. The winner's share of the prize-pool was a handsome €543.7k. The runner-up had to settle for €338.7k.
The beginning of the day saw 6 players return to action, as Matas Cimbolas and Massou Cohen were both out of the way, bounced from the final table in 8th and 7th places respectively. Parlafes was the one with by far the biggest stack at the beginning of the action, so he was obviously the mathematical favorite for the title too.

Joseph Carlino, one of the earlier chip leaders, was the first one to bite the dust. He was sent packing by Andrius Bielskis, picking up €115.6k for his 6th place. The next player to hit the rail was Bielskis himself though, unable to thoroughly enjoy the knockout he'd scored earlier. His share of the prize-pool was €147.7k.
Benjamin Pollak was eliminated next, and with him, the chances of a local player taking down the title took a major hit. Sure enough, when Benjamin Buhr was bounced as well (in 3rd place), those chances died completely. Buhr's cut of the loot was €242.3k. The heads-up stage of the event - some 117-hands long - was worthy of a separate story of its own. The Bulgarian and the Romanian duked it out, until Dimov finally seized the chip lead and never let go, going all the way.
