EPT London High Roller – Talal Shakerchi Wins

Talal Sakerchi started the last day of the
EPT London’s £10k High Roller with the largest stack, thanks to his masterful handling of the money-bubble created tightness on Day 2 of the
poker tournament. At the final table, he took full advantage of his large stack and after about 6 hours of play, he emerged with the win, taking down the title and the £436.3k first prize. Even though none of the railbirds considered him one of the “name” players, Shakerchi is certainly not a rookie when it comes to events like the EPT London High Roller. In the EPT’s 8th season for instance, he won a €10k Turbo Six-max event and he even made the final table of the Barcelona High Roller – quite an achievement in itself.
Dimitar Danchev – himself a heavy hitter – was the one who started the final table with the shortest stack and quite naturally, he became the first victim of the hostilities. He picked up a little over £29k for his efforts. He was followed to the rail by Eric Sfez, who picked up more than £40k.
The next player to bite the dust was JC Alvarado, who was followed to the rail in turn by Victoria Coren. Gautam Sabharwal was the next victim of the final table.
The first player to take home a 6-figure prize was Paul Volpe. He was eliminated by the eventual winner. His 4th place was worth £107.4k.
Fabian Quoss’ elimination in 3rd place set up the heads-up stage of the event. Quoss was rewarded with £147.6k.
The heads-up stage of the action found Shakerchi holding a 4-1 chip lead over Faraz Jaka. Although Jaka did try to mount a comeback attempt, it didn’t take his opponent long to score a decisive blow. The last hand of the event saw Jaka’s A,Qo fall to Shakerchi’s pocket Qs.
