8 players returned to the tables of the Victoria Grosvenor Casino on the last day of the
EPT’s London Main Event, with the goal to play down to a winner. The opposition was tough and the battle for the title was quite epic, but in the end, the player who emerged victorious was the Netherlands’ Ruben Visser, who walked away with £595k.
The UK’s own Chris Moorman was the first player to bite the dust. He hit the rail after his pocket 7s lost a classic coin-flip against Theo Jorgensen’s A,K. He picked up £57k for his efforts.
He was followed to the rail by Tamer Kamel after quite a while. Kamel’s A,10x went up against Olof Haglund’s K,Q suited in his final hand and it fell short. Kamel’s share of the prize-pool was a £79.9k one.
Christopher Frank of Germany was the next victim of the final table. He hit the rail courtesy of Ruben Visser and he picked up £112k for his 6th place.
The player to bite the dust in 5th place was Steve O’Dwyer. O’Dwyer dropped a massive pot to Haglund first and got his last chips into the middle against Theo Jorgensen. His reward was a £146k one. Jorgensen himself followed him to the payout queue in 4th place, having secured a £183k payday.
Following Jorgensen’s elimination, a deal was made among the last 3 survivors. The prize-pool was divided according to the deal and an extra £140k was put aside for the winner.
The player whose elimination set up the heads-up stage of the
poker tournament was Olaf Haglund, who ended up with £427.5k. The heads-up stage of the action took about two hours and at the end of it, Mantas Visockis was bounced, picking up £377.4k.
