The third day of the
European Poker Tour's Malta Main Event went into the books as the field blew right past the money-bubble, playing down to the final 40. Despite the fact that scores of players were sent packing over the last 3 days, an impressive number of "name" pros are still in contention. Faraz Jaka is still there, together with Mike McDonald, the Canadian who has been running extremely well lately and Shannon Shorr. Other "name" participants weren't quite as lucky: Steve O'Dwyer, Isaac Haxton and Dominik Nitsche were among those who bit the dust.
A total of 131 players bellied up to the tables at the beginning of the day with one immediate goal in mind: to make it past the money-bubble. The start-of-the-day chip leader was Alexander Ivarsson, who did well on Day 2 too, finishing second with some 1.3 million chips to his name.

As said above, Faraz Jaka made the top 40 too, on a very healthy stack no less: he had some 1.2 million chips bagged. Niall Farrell put in a great run as well: he ended up with 1.16 million chips. Sam Greenwood finished near the top as well: his stack tipped the scales at 1.16 million too. Mike McDonald finished a tad further down the chip counts: he had 689k chips.
The chip leader, with 1.45 million chips was Poland's Jaroslaw Sikora though. Sikora had his Day 3 run sparked by Lady Luck: at one point during the first level, he got it in with pocket Qs against Alfie Adam's pocket Ks. A Q landed on the flop to give him that pot and to set him on track for reaching the top by the day's end.
