EPT Prague Day 1B report

Day 1B of the European Poker Tour’s Prague event broke Day 1A’s attendance record. Almost 300 players bellied up to the tables, a hefty field which included EPT Budapest Champion Will Fry, Davidi Kitai, Pascal Perrault, and Dario Minieri.
Anthony Lellouche and Alex Kravchenko were also among the starters, and so was WSOP Main Event Champion Peter Eastgate, fresh off his APPT Sydney Grand Final participation.

The action once again kicked off fast, as Andreas Hoivold, the EPT’s Dortmund champ was among the early eliminations. Holding a pair of Js in his pocket, he decided to go all-in on a flop of 9,8,5. Unfortunately, he got called by an opponent with 8,8 who had flopped a set. Hoivold never managed to catch up, so his tournament adventure was a short lived one.
Peter Eastgate seems to have run out of luck lately. He became another early casualty when he went all-in on a board of A,Q,8,3,6, and got called by Stuart Rutter. Rutter then tabled A,3 for the two pair, and Eastgate mucked his A,K.

Will Fry was also added to the list of casualties, together with Katja Thater and Davidi Kitai. The latter shoved all-in on a As,Js before the flop, to be called by Petr Masojidek who tabled a clearly dominated 6d,4d. As luck would have it though, Masojidek hit his flush on the river while Kitai only made a top pair.

Dario Minieri was one of the guys who seemed unstoppable. At one point, late in the day, he picked up a couple of Jacks on which he promptly shoved all-in, only to be called by an opponent with Q,Q. The board gave Minieri a straight though, as it fell 7,10,8,2,9 bailing him out and giving his stack a huge boost. That boost was enough to send him near the top of the chip leader board with 64,400 chips.

Christer Johansson finished in the chip lead eventually with 108,100 chips, followed in second by Manuel Bevand with 97,200.
Other Day 1B survivors were: Anthony Lellouche, Juha Helppi and Steven Devlin. Johansson’s performance put him in the overall lead, ahead of Day 1A chip leader Ludovic Lacay.
