EPT Prague Main Event – Day 1B Report

The first day 1 flight of the EPT’s Prague Main Event saw the capacity of the Hilton Prague’s Congress Hall put to a serious test. If the 389 Day 1 participants made the organizers jump through a few hoops, the 609-strong crowd which showed up on Day 2 simply blew them out of their boots. With 998 registrations already in the middle, it is clear that we’re dealing with the largest ever EPT Prague, but since registration remains open till the beginning of Day 2, that number may still go up.
Once again, the day consisted of 8 levels, 75-minutes long each. At the end of it all, of the initial starting field, 369 players remained standing. The one who clinched the chip lead at the end of the second Day 1 flight was Amir Lehavot, who had 229.3k chips bagged, taking over the overall lead of the event.
Other players who did well on Day 1B were Norway’s Sigurd Eskeland, who finished with 184.6k chips to his name, and Kirill Shugai from Russia, who finished with 169.1k.

The action got hot from the get-go, as players started falling left and right as soon as the event kicked off. One of the early victims of the day was Pascal Lefrancois, who had his tournament life curbed at the end of the first level.
Chris Moorman was another notable who found the way to the rail on Day 1B. He was bounced by Luca Pagano during the 6th level, giving the latter a nice boost. Pagano had a set of Js against Moorman’s heart flush draw, which failed to fill up.
Team PokerStars’ Max Lykov was also among the fallen, together with Richard Toth, Liv Boeree, Will Failla, Paul Berende and scores of others. Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand Grospellier were both among the survivors though.
