EPT Prague Main Event – Day 1B Report

The second Day 1 flight of the EPT’s Prague Main Event was a crucial one as far as far as the organizers were concerned, because it would determine the exact number of participants. Obviously, everyone was hoping to beat last year’s 1,007, and for that – given that on Day 1A 342 bellied up to the tables – 666 more players were needed. Indeed, that number was handily surpassed when no fewer than 750 put up the buy-in. Thus, with everyone factored in, the size of the starting field was set to 1,092.
Julian Track was the one won the event last year, and back then, fresh in the wake of his win, he promised he would never play live poker again. Such promises are apparently only made to be broken though, as others before Track had proven on a number of occasions, and indeed, Track played in quite a few
poker tournaments afterwards. He did not play in the Prague Main Event though.

The runner-up from last year’s Main Event, Georgios Sotiropoulos on the other hand was back. He managed to survive the day too, finishing with 40.9k chips to his name. Last year’s 3rd place finisher, Stephen Chidwick was on hand to try to improve on his result too. He too survived, having amassed 55.4k chips, but more interestingly, he did it all after he had finished 3rd in the €50k Super High roller, collecting a €355k prize.
Luca Pagano on the other hand, failed to make it to Day 2. Vanessa Selbst took a large chunk of his stack after which Davidi Kitai moved in and bounced him from the tournament for good.
