EPT Prague Main Event – Day 2 Report

On Saturday, the remaining players reconvened for the start of the second day of the EPT’s Season 10 Prague Main Event. Only 9 players chose to take advantage of late registration, which was open till the beginning of day two. Everything accounted for, in the end, 1,007 players bellied up to the tables before the action got rolling. The numbers-game got finally deciphered as well: the record-setting field created a prize-pool of €4.88 million. A total of 151 players would get paid in the end. The eventual winner would pick up a €889k reward.

At the start of the second day, the field was only 549 players-strong. Six levels of action went into the day, the end of which saw only 189 players left standing. The one to finish with the largest stack, and thus with the best odds to make it all the way, was poker pro Walid Bou Habib, who had 509k chips bagged. The top of the provisional chip-count was quite pro-heavy indeed. Jonathan Little of the US finished second, with 471k chips. Ka Kwan Lau from Spain followed in 3rd, followed in turn by Hungary’s Szabolcs Mayer in 4th.
Amir Lehavot, the start-of-the–day chip leader, had a decent day 2 run too: he preserved his large-stack, finishing in 7th place, with a stack of 427k chips to his name.

As soon as the action got going, players began falling left and right. The short-stacks were up to their usual do-or-die moves, which left them exposed to all sorts of abuse on the part of the better-stacked crowd. Toby Lewis, Micah Rashkin and Oleksii Kovalchuk found the rail during the early stages of the action.
The reigning champion of the poker tournament, Ramzi Jelassi, was also bounced during the early going. Marvin Rettenmaier was among the victims as well.
