EPT Prague Main Event – Day 3 Report

The third day of the EPT’s Prague Main Event saw 189 players return to the tables, looking to make the money. That objective was indeed reached during the day, but not everyone was around when the money-bubble burst. In fact, when the action was called, only 61 players were left standing.
The player with the largest stack at the end of the day was Ludovic Lacay, who finished with 1.7 million chips to his name. Several other notables made the top of the pops too. Ole Schemion for instance, one of the players involved in the battle at the top of the GPI top 300 rankings, finished with 1,030,000 chips, enough for 4th place. Ana Marquez made the top 10 too, and Jonathan Little – one of the start of the day large stacks – finished with a healthy stack as well.

As the action got going, PokerStars’ David Williams got crippled after he trusted his tournament life to a pair of Ks he’d picked up. He was called by a player with an Ace in the pocket, who then made a pair of rockets on the river to deal Williams a serious blow. He got his last few chips into the middle on a pair of 3s, and he got a call from a player with pocket Js. The board landed no miracle cards, and Williams’ poker tournament came to an abrupt end.
Martin Staszko fared a tad better, but he too was bounced before the money bubble. He was joined on the sidelines by Sam Cohen and Bolivar Palacios. The money bubble burst with the elimination of Alexander Lakhov. With the bubble out of the way, the pace of the eliminations gathered momentum. Paul Volpe and Sylvain Loosli were eliminated in the money. Bertrand Grospellier made it all the way to 106th place, while Amir Lehavot was bounced in 105th.
