EPT Prague Main Event Plays Down to Final 6

A total of 1,044 players had registered for the Main Event of the European Poker Tour's Prague Main Event, creating a prize-pool of €5,036,400, but at the beginning of Day 5, only 23 of them returned to the tables. By the end of the day, the objective of reaching the official final table had long been accomplished. A total of 12 hours of action went into the day, at the end of which Ilkin Amirov emerged with the largest stack. He had some 9.97 million chips bagged. Gleb Tremzin finished second with 7.78 million chips to his name. Others who are still in contention are Thomas Butzhammer, Slaven Popov, Hossein Ensan and Olivier Ferrero. The latter is the official short-stack of the final table, with 1.74 million chips. The eventual winner of the Main Event will walk away with a €921.5k prize.

The eliminations started as soon as the action kicked off. The first one to bite the dust was Henri Jaakola, who staked his tournament life on an A,8. He got called by Chris Walker, whose pocket 10s made short work of his A,8.
Preben Stokkan was eliminated next, followed to the rail by a drove of victims, including Tomas Pleticha and Abbas Maradi. At one point during the day, no fewer than 4 players got all their chips into the middle: Amirov had pocket Ks against Javier Gomez's pocket Qs, Walker's pocket Js and Marc McDonnell's 8d, 9d. The flop fell 6s, As,9s, giving Gomez a flush draw, but preserving Amirov's preflop lead. The 2d fell on the flop, followed by the 6d on the river, to send everyone but the eventual chip leader packing.
