EPT Prague Super High Roller – Day 2 Report

The Super High Roller of the EPT’s Prague Stop rolled on for a second day yesterday, and the original starting field of 51 players found itself whittled down to the final table of 7. Needless to say, because it’s a high roller we’re talking about, just about everyone who made the home stretch of the poker tournament is a well known player in one way or another. Stephen Chidwick made the cut – albeit on a short stack – as did Juha Helppi and Vladimir Troyanovskiy. Leonid Markin was the one who finished the day with the largest stack: he’ll be starting his final table effort behind a stack of 3.35 million chips. At the beginning of the day, 32 players should’ve bellied up to the tables, but three more buy-ins were registered in addition to the survivors of Day 1: Fedor Holz decided to fire his third bullet in the tournament, while Pablo Fernandez was just getting his first buy-in into the middle. Another player who went for a multi-bullet approach was Timothy Adams, who took his second shot.

The first victim of the second day of action was none other than PokerStars’ own Jason Mercier, who put his tournament life onto the line with an A,Ko, and promptly ran into Brian Roberts’ pocket rockets. He was followed to the rail by Joni Sointula, Joao Vieira and Mike McDonald. All the players who bought in at the beginning of day 2 – mentioned above – were bounced as well. Ole Schemion, Mikah Rashkin and Steve O’Dwyer were sent packing too.
Martin Jacobson’s elimination was the highlight of the day, not only because Jacobson is in fact the reigning WSOP Main Event champion, but also because he bit the dust right on the money-bubble.
