EPT San Remo Main Event – Day 3 Report

The third day of the EPT’s San Remo Main Event was a relatively short one. It took the field only 7 hours to reach its Day 3 objectives. Inge Forsmo was the one who started the day with the largest stack, which he wielded skillfully through the day, preserving his top position successfully. The money bubble was set to burst on Day 3 and Forsmo viewed its proximity as a great opportunity to abuse shorter stacks. Sure enough, he stuck to his plan and he finished the day with a bit more than 1 million chips to his name.
Other players who did well were Angelo Rechia, who finished in possession of a 851k stack, Carmelo Vasta (with 844k chips to his name) and Laurent Polito, with 717k chips.

David Vamplew finished with a healthy stack as well: he had amassed 547k chips. Another notable who finished among the top ranks was Isaac Haxton, who managed to close the action in possession of a 488k stack. Haxton had had an excellent poker tournament run and he had a top-three stack until he dropped a massive pot on the very last hand of the day. The hand was a classic coin-flip which saw Haxton’s Ad,Kd go up against Eric Nhouyvanisvong’s pocket Qs. The flop gave Nhouyvanisvong a set, but it also gave Haxton a 4-card diamond flush. The turn and the river failed to fill it though, and thus Nhouyvanisvong walked away with about 375k of his opponent’s chips, to finish the day with a real bang.
Ludovic Lacay survived the day a well, together with Shaun Deeb, Justin Bonomo and Roberto Romanello.

The money-bubble was a rather dragged-out affair. The first three players who put their tournament lives onto the line at that critical point in the event, all did so with pocket rockets and they all survived. The eventual bubble-boy was Renaud Desferet, whose A,10 lost out to Michael Benvenuti’s A,K.
