EPT San Remo Main Event – Final Table Reached

The penultimate day of the EPT’s 2012 San Remo Main Event was a short one: the 24 players who returned to the tables at the beginning of the day managed to play down to the final 8 in less than 8 hours. Jason Lavallee was the one who clinched the chip lead, having built up a stack of 5.5 million chips. Lavallee has been in outstanding shape for the last couple of days and his performance was indeed a dominating one on Day 5 of the
poker tournament. Another player who played extremely well was Ludovic Lacay, the French pro who hasn’t yet turned in any impressive accomplishments this year. Lacay finished the day with the second largest stack. The two big stacks managed to steer clear of each other through the day.
The main protagonist of the early stage of the action was Inge Forsmo, a previous chip leader who started the day on a decent stack. Unfortunately for him, he drew the spotlight for all the wrong reasons on Day 5. First he dropped a sizable pot to Micah Raskin, on a perfect hand with a set of 4s against his opponent’s set of 7s. He then locked horns with Lavallee and dropped a massive pot to him too, with an A-high against pocket Qs.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko didn’t achieve much on Day 5 either. He trod along for a while and he eventually shoved all-in, losing his tournament life. Matt Salsberg was eliminated on Day 5 too, together with Michael Benvenuti. Salsberg’s last hand saw his rags lose out to Ismael Bojang’s A,Jo.
The final table bubble-boy was Amerigo Santoro. Santoro pushed all-in holding an A,Jo against Angelo Recchia, who had pocket 10s. No help came on the board for Santoro and he was out, his elimination signaling the end of the day.
Meanwhile, in the €10k High Roller event, Joel Nordkvist clinched the lead as that event played down to its final table too.
