EPT San Remo Main Event – Ludovic Lacay Wins

After seven days of torrid action, the
EPT’s 2012 San Remo Main Event came to an end. The one defiantly flicking his cards across the final table in celebration, with all the chips in play piled up in front of him, was France’s Ludovic Lacay. Lacay picked up €744.9k for his efforts together with a Shamballa bracelet.
Eight players returned to the tables on the final day of action, and none of them wanted to be the first to hit the rail. That would explain why it took more than 3 and a half hours for the first player to bite the dust. First blood was drawn at the end of a classic coin-flip confrontation between start of the day chip leader Jason Lavallee and Ismael Bojang. Lavallee had pocket 10s against Bojang’s A,K and his hand held, sending his opponent to the rail.
Adrian Piasecki was the second victim of the day. He was eliminated by Ludovic Lacay. The only American left in contention at that point, Micah Raskin, was eliminated in 6th place by Angelo Recchia. Jason Tompkins put his tournament life onto the line with an A,4o next, only to be called and eventually busted by Artem Litvinov’s pocket Ks.
Lacay busted Recchia next, sending the last Italian home in 4th place, with a €225k reward to show for his efforts.
Artem Litvinov was disposed of in 3rd place and thus the heads-up stage of the action was set. Lacay and Lavallee struck a heads-up deal which guaranteed both players a set share of the action. For the remainder of the prize-pool they battled it out. The last hand of the
poker tournament saw Lacay’s Q,10o best Lavallee’s 8c,6c.
