EPT Sanremo Season 10 Main Event – Victoria Coren Wins

Besides the €10.3k High Roller, the Main Event of the EPT’s Season 10 Sanremo stop also wrapped up on Sunday. The winner of the big one was none other than Victoria Coren, who walked away with the top prize of €476.1k. She also set a new record, becoming the first ever double EPT Main Event champion.
Interestingly enough, when the final table action kicked off, Coren was the official short-stack. When it was all said and done though, the lady who had won the London Main Event of the 3rd season of the EPT, was the only one left standing, all the chips in play piled up in front of her.
The player Coren disposed of heads-up for the win was local competitor Giacomo Fundaro, himself a “name” player, who was left with a €298.7k prize.

At noon, 8 players returned to the tables, looking to play down to a winner. Giacomo Fundaro failed to show up in time, so the action went on 7-handed for a while. The first player to bite the dust was Emmanuel Pariset, who had displayed some pretty solid TAG skills during the previous days. At the final table, he got creative though, and he soon got punished for it. On his second post-flop hand, he was sent packing by Andrea Benelli. Pariset picked up €53.1k for his 8th place.
He was followed to the rail by Andrija Martic of Croatia and Bruno Stefanelli of Italy. Two more Italians bit the dust afterwards: Andreas Goeller finished 5th for a little over €130k, and Benelli ended up in 4th for €166.7k.
Jordan Westmoreland’s elimination in 3rd place set up the heads-up stage of the event.
The final hand of the tournament saw Fundaro’s pocket rockets fall to Coren’s Q,Jo.
