EPT Tallinn – Kaiser Wins

The EPT’s Tallinn final table didn’t really produce any out-of-the-ordinary moves. The two players who started the final stretch with the two largest stacks made it to the heads-up stage, and eventually, it was the start of the day chip leader, Ronny Kaiser, who picked up the laurels, the title and the top prize.
Grzegorz Cichocki began the day second in chips, but he benefited from a furious start and he soon found himself in the lead. Kaiser began to couple skill with luck though, and apparently when that happens, nothing can really stand in his way. He was responsible for the first elimination of the day. Arvi Viainionkulma, who had had his buy-in repaid by Skrill, the official payment provider of the
EPT, got his last chips into the middle, holding an A,K. Kaiser had lowly pocket 4s, but he won the coin-flip as the board bricked out.
That first elimination seemed to have opened the floodgates. Sami Kelopuro locked horns with Kaiser next, pitting his A-high against the latter’s straight in a bluff which never stood an iota of a chance to succeed.
Jani Sointula swung into action next, crippling Stuart Fox. Kaiser then moved in to finish the job, bouncing Fox in 6th place.
Sointula then lost a classic coin-flip to Kaiser to hit the rail. He was followed out the door by Raigo Aasmaa, who had Kh,10h against Cichocki’s pocket rockets. Cichocki proceeded to make a flush to decide that hand.
It only took the two large stacks about 4 hours to whittle the field down to the heads-up stage, a truly impressive feat considering the value of the final table starting field.
The final hand of the event saw Cichocki make a large preflop bet, which prompted a huge three-bet from his opponent, which basically got Cichocki all-in.
Cichocki then turned over 8d, 6d against Kaiser’s A,9. The board fell 5,K,A,10,9 and Cichocki had to settle for second place money.
