Feds Approve Full Tilt Funds for Some Players

Full Tilt Poker’s US players have been awaiting the reimbursement of the monies they had left in their Full Tilt Poker accounts following Black Friday for what seems like an eternity now. After a tedious and intricate beginning to the funds-remission process, it now looks like things are slowly but surely shifting into a higher gear: the DoJ has just approved the release of some $82 million of the funds it had seized from
Full Tilt Poker, towards the repayment of the site’s US customers.
It took this long for the DoJ to review the player petitions submitted to the Garden City Group, the third-party claims-manager hired by the Government to settle the issue.
Approximately 30,000 players will have their Full Tilt monies returned to them through this move.
The one who broke the news in one of the
popular online poker forums out there was John Pappas, the Executive Director of the Poker Players’ Alliance. He said he had spoken to the DoJ staff and had gotten confirmation that indeed, 30,000 of the undisputed claims would be settled shortly.
The Garden City Group is expected to make the announcement at its own website in short order, and those who have undisputed claims pending should expect an email from the GCG, which will contain further instructions on exactly how to pick up their monies.
Obviously, there are people out there who have submitted faulty claims, incompletely or incorrectly completing the claims form. These people will be emailed as well, with explanations concerning their case.
Full Tilt Poker affiliates who lost money and in-house pros who are in the same boat, will not receive any of the above said funds: their case continues to remain pending.
According to Pappas, the DoJ worked through the issue in a rather admirable way, and it cooperated with the PPA throughout the ordeal.
