PokerStars have just announced a rather unexpected but nonetheless very welcome addition to the
EPT’s Season 11 schedule: a Maltese stop. The choice is indeed a logical one. As a matter of fact, it leaves one pondering why there wasn’t an EPT Malta before. Malta, smack in the middle of the beautiful Mediterranean, is the perfect spot for such activities, not only because of its mild climate, but also because it has been an
online poker hotspot for years.
Various online poker operations have sprung up there, and lately, the poker community has seen a massive explosion as well, as a number of high stakes online professionals from the US set up shop there to be able to practice their trade.
The Maltese stop of the EPT will be an 11-day long poker festival, which will include a Main Event, as well as a wild variety of side events, covering just about every poker variant and betting structure out there.
Sign up to PokerStars now and hit their online qualifiers in time to make your way to Malta in style through one of them.
In addition to its €5.3k Main Event, the EPT Malta will also play host to the Main Event of the Italian Poker Tour, and it will also host the GPI’s European Poker Awards. The EPT Malta kicks off on March 18, and it wraps up on the 28th. The European Poker Awards will take place on March 25.
The venue, which will host the poker festival is the Portomaso Casino, situated in one of the most beautiful and upscale areas of the island. Having hosted a number of major international poker tournaments, the Portomaso Casino has proved over the years that it is indeed well capable of handling something of the EPT’s size and prestige.
Play at PokerStars, and always be on the lookout for their live event qualifiers: they represent a great potential path into some of the world’s best live poker tournaments.
