The State of Nevada has formally legalized
real money online poker quite a while ago. For over a year, the race has been on to determine the first online poker operator to begin offering legal online poker in the United States. We have apparently reached the finish line of that race: Ultimate Poker have announced that they would launch their real money
online poker room and deal the first legal online poker hand in the US on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at around 9 AM PST. The move will indeed be a historic one from the perspective of the
online poker community, which had its US branch forcefully removed from the virtual tables quite a few years ago. From the perspective of Ultimate Poker, an operation owned by Station Casinos LLC, the move is an equally groundbreaking one: it is undeniable that the first operator to get Nevada-based players to its real money online poker tables will enjoy a major advantage over everyone to follow. It will now basically become a must for all the big Nevada-based poker professionals to open an account at the new site, UltimatePoker.com.
The site has recently made another masterstroke of a move in this direction, by hiring proud Las Vegas resident and high-stakes poker wonder-kid, Antonio Esfandiari. Being the exclusive online gaming partner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship has also secured quite a bit of backing for the Ultimate Poker brand.
For starters, the site will only offer Limit and No Limit
Texas Holdem games from $0.01/$0.02 to $10/$20. Obviously, higher limits and other poker variants are planned to be introduced in the future. Players can make their real money deposits through a variety of ways (MasterCard, checking account, wire transfer, check, etc) which include direct deposits at 16 Station Casinos cage locations.
Players can register from anywhere in the world, but they need to be in Nevada to play. Only those over 21 can play at the new site.
