Fresh News on the FTP-GBT Deal

Full Tilt Poker CEO Raymond Bitar’s voice has been conspicuously absent through the scandal that ripped his company clean off the online poker map and got it locked into a legal quagmire that has thrown the online funds of tens of thousands of US and European players into limbo. With the ray of hope represented by a possible Groupe Bernard Tapie takeover on the horizon, Bitar decided to finally break the silence the other day, to motivate his absence from the media spotlight and to apparently apologize.
In an interview he gave to one of the leading online poker strategy portals, Bitar said one of the reasons why he chose to shy away from the spotlight was the ongoing legal process involving Full Tilt Poker and the US DoJ. Pending the investigation, he didn’t really want to share any insider details regarding the matter. Bitar also said he was fully cooperating with the DoJ and by catching any media spotlight he may have jeopardized the legal proceedings.
The ex-Full Tilt CEO has acknowledged that his life had indeed changed in the wake of Black Friday, but he also said that his utmost concern was the repayment of pending Full Tilt player monies.
In closing, Bitar offered his apologies to all those financially or otherwise affected by the Full Tilt case and re-iterated the fact that his silence had never been an attempt to ignore the situation or to try to sweep the matter under the rug in any way. He also said he was hopeful he could soon serve up some good news for the FTP players.

In the meantime, GBT lawyer Behnam Dayanim said there were no new developments on the Full Tilt Poker acquisition front. He also said he remained “reasonably optimistic” about the deal and that the time-frame reserved for negotiations has been extended. Dayanim also said that no breakthroughs have been achieved in the Full Tilt pro debts issue either.
