The XIXth edition of the FTOPS has been a resounding success so far, as all events managed to shoot right past their guarantees by attracting more players than the organizers had counted on. As the fields grew, so did the individual payouts. There were indeed quite a few massive paydays so far, the biggest one of them a $290k monster, which ended up in possession of a player whose real identity is not yet known. Notables have scored nice profits too. Joseph Chaplin, Michael Tureniec, John Hayes, Alex Fitzgerald and Mike Leah were all among those rewarded. Jonas Klausen and Sam Stein won an event each to take down 6-figure prizes.
Klausen’s event was event #3, the $322
NL Holdem Rush Multi Entry event which he won for a $182k reward. The runner up in this event was none other than Michael Tureniec, who picked up $128k for his efforts. The two players bested a starting field of 3,291 to get to the top. Phil Collins and Josh Prager cashed in the event as well. Collins took home $8.6k for his 10th place finish, and Prager picked up the same amount for his 12th place.
Sam Stein’s victory came in event #15, the $322 NL Holdem Super Turbo Multi-entry event. He bested a starting field of 3,500 players to win it all, although the size of his haul was somewhat limited by the 3-way deal which developed among the top 3 finishers. He picked up $182k for his win. John Hayes finished in second place for a $152k reward. 3rd place finisher, RuDyBoy X finished in 6-figures as well. He took home $123k for his efforts.
The event which awarded the largest prize so far was event #10, the $109 NL Holdem 6-max event with rebuys, which attracted a starting field of 4,302 players. dutchmaster won it for $290k. Kory Kilpatrick and Alex Fitzgerald finished in second and 3rd places respectively, winning $178k and $123k.
