With most of the major live
poker tournaments out of the way, the attention of the poker world has turned to Full Tilt Poker’s freshly revived Full Tilt Online Poker Series, which has reached it 21st edition. The second day of the Series saw no fewer than 3 players earn their FTOPS stripes.
Brazil’s Joao Simao, who has apparently spent some time studying some new kind of
NL Holdem strategy, was the winner of event #2, the $216 PL Omaha Six-Max hi/lo event. The tournament offered an initial guarantee of $75k, but it was quickly put to shame as the 527 entrants created a prize-pool of $105.4k.
There were plenty of “name” competitors in the field, among them Mark Radoja, the winner of many a previous FTOPS event. Radoja put in a more than decent effort this time around too, as he made the final table, but he was eventually forced to admit defeat.
The winner, Joao Simao, defeated BuratinBilTupoy heads-up to take home the $23.1k top prize. A player known by the moniker “Anelps” finished 3rd for a $11k reward.
Event #3, the $1,060 NL Holdem Multi-Entry one, saw 705 players belly up to its tables, creating a prize-pool of more than $600k. The initial guarantee of the tournament was $300k, so it’s safe to say it turned out to be a resounding success.
The winner was a player known as fowirls, who took home $149.9k after a heads-up deal, which left runner-up “o daskalos” with $125k. There were no other 6-figure winners in the event. fowirl had scored a deep finish in event #1 too, so thus far he’s the FTOPS XXI’s leader board front-runner.
Event #4, the $216 NL Holdem Rush Turbo one, more than doubled its $100k guarantee too, after 1,018 players registered.
