Day 13 of the FTOPS XXII at Full Tilt Poker didn’t pick up the pace from the previous day: only two players earned their gold jerseys on Day 13 too. The headlines were stolen by John Leathart, who finally managed to win a FTOPS event after several close calls.
Event #32, the $109
NL Holdem Rush one, drew a starting field of 1,052 players. The initial guarantee was $75k, but the field eventually combined buy-ins to create a $105.2k whooper. The winner of the event was Leathart as said above, who bested a player known as puffypoker heads-up. The two had struck a deal before the conclusion of the
poker tournament, so Leathart was left with a $19.83k prize. puffypoker collected $18.83k for his second place effort. BilliDaKidXX finished 3rd, taking home a little over $11k. None of the other players managed to break into 5-figure territory.
Anthony Spinella managed a handsome deep run: he finished 7th, picking up $3.1k.
The second event of the day was the $322 2-7 Triple Draw Limit 6-Max event. 157 players bellied up to the tables of this poker tournament, which offered a $50k guarantee. Unlike most FTOPS XXII events thus far, event $33 failed to cover its guarantee, leaving its players to battle it out for the initially guaranteed $50k.
There weren’t any deals at the top in this event: the winner, fuhlsgold, walked away with a top prize of $13.4k. Amoroso50 finished second for $9k. Kevin Iacofano was the deepest finishing “name” player: his 3rd place was worth $6.5k. Christer Johansson managed a relatively deep run as well: he finished 10th for a $1.1k reward.
Sunday will see the FTOPS XXII wrap up with its $640 Main Event. The prize-pool in this event is likely to exceed $2 million.
