84 players returned to the tables on the 3rd day of the
Full Tilt Poker Montreal Main Event and after another full day of action, only 25 remained standing. The organizers had planned to have the field play down to the final 27 on Day 3, but Vinny Pahuja scored a nice double knockout in the last hand of the day.
The two victims of the said hand were Asadul Shah and Stacy Ievac and what a hand it was: the chips went into the middle before the flop, after a furious raising war. Pahuja tabled an A,Ko, which at that point was the worst hand at the table. Shah had pocket Qs and Ievac tabled pocket rockets. The flop fell K,9,8, followed by another K on the turn and yet another one on the river. The pot blasted Pahuja right into the chip lead. The other player to go on the last hand was Victor Ramdin.
Eventually, the leader finished with 4.45 million chips to his name. Eric Despres had a good run too: he finished the day in second place, with 3.62 million chips.
Eric Larose was third, with 3.61 million.
Yann Dion fell during day 3 too, together with Martins Adeniya, Dermot Blain and Gavin Smith. Thusly, the main sponsor of the event, Full Tilt Poker, was left without its top representatives.
Dion’s demise came as he pushed all-in with A,K against Bill Kontaratos’ pocket rockets. Adeniya got the last of his chips into the middle with pocket 5s, against the pocket Qs and the pocket rockets of two other players.
Blain on the other hand, put his tournament life onto the line with a K,10o and got a call from a player who had Q,Jo. The flop gave his opponent a two pair and he was done.
